Happy Father’s Day! (pirate adventures on the chesapeake)
It’s was a beautiful sunny day in Crofton, Maryland and a wonderful time to be outdoors to celebrate Father’s Day. I surprised my son Jake and his Dad with tickets to go on the Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake docked in Annapolis, Maryland. I’ve been on it before with Jake a couple of years ago, but I knew he would enjoy it so much more now that he’s the ripe old age of 4. There are many great opportunities to snap pictures while the children dress up and have their faces painted and during the adventure itself. Dad joined in on the fun too (he was the only one). Here are a few fun pictures from their adventure:

WELCOME to the Sophatography Blog (Emily Sopha Photography)
… to the new Snap to It Blog. I’m still working out a few kinks, but I think it’s safe to say that most things are up and running smoothly (that is - until tomorrow when I discover something else that’s not up and running). Enjoy the new format and new images. Right here, right now, I’m making a commitment to post more frequently. I had a good run going, but somewhere, some how, life got in the way and suddenly months go by and I haven’t peeped a word. I’m anxious to share images from the Smuckers Stars on Ice show (I took my grandmother a few weeks ago) as well as my 4 year old son making maple syrup with his Opa in Michigan (”Really?” he wanted to know … “why do we have to drain it in to a bucket when I can put my mouth right on the tap, just like this?”) Of course there will be plenty of client pics, web design news, as well as the Snap Tips you just can’t get enough of! So enjoy and please take a moment to let me know you’re still with me and doing fine!
HAPPY SPRING!

Happy New Year!
My sincere thanks to all of the families I was able to work with in 2007! It really is a pleasure to meet and photograph so many nice people and I just adore the children who shared their smiles with me. Thank you all for trusting in me to capture those special moments.
For those familiar faces, those clients who I’ve had the opportunity to work with more than once, thank you! It’s a thrill to see children again and see how they have grown since previous sessions.
I look forward to a wonderful 2008!
My Best,
Emily

Holiday Buzzing (holiday on location photography)
Hard to believe tomorrow is December! November was full of many fun photo sessions that I hope to share with you over the next couple of days. The warmer weather allowed for more outdoor sessions which was nice, as the fall colors always make a nice backdrop.
If you are still looking to have photographs taken for use in holiday cards or to give as a gift, please contact me ASAP. Weekends are booked, but I do have a few weekday sessions available.
If you have your own photograph, but would like to have cards created, e-mail me and we can discuss designs.
THANKS!
Emily

Happy Father’s Day! (photography gifts for dads)
What a wonderful day to celebrate the love that’s shared between a father and his child(ren). Our day was nice as we spent most of it relaxing at home. We had plans to take our son to a baseball game this evening, but he said he would rather squirt Dad with the hose in the backyard for Father’s Day. I couldn’t argue with that!
Dad was excited with a new framed collage to put on his desk at work …

Special Snap: I love you baby

How sweet is this snap? At just 10 days old, this little one is already feeling so much love from his family, especially his big brother. There’s never a bad time to photograph a newborn, but I find it’s best to do it within a few weeks after birth whenever possible. I try to keep my schedule flexible enough to accommodate newborn sessions (this session was scheduled for late June, but baby arrived three weeks early!).

"Imagine" Signature Prints
This photograph is one of my favorites. Mom and daughter were surprising Dad with photographs for his birthday. They both had such wonderful warm spirits and excitement despite the rain and clouds.
I designed this print with an “Imagine” treatment. This treatment is one of several I offer on Signature prints from a Photo Session. I love creating Signature prints, as clients often share of the wonderful compliments they receive from family and friends who see the framed print.
THANK YOU!

Snaps of the Week: Wedding Bliss

I love photographing a wedding. There are so many wonderful memories and fine details waiting to be recorded. I strive to catch the unexpected moments that erupt naturally, the winks and smiles that family and friends share so naturally, the countless fine details and special touches which all together blend creating the most perfect celebration. I’m sending many warm wishes to the happy couple!

Snaps of the Week: Springtime in DC

Nothing compares to Washington D.C. in the Spring, as the cherry trees blossom and mark the beginning of a new season. Many who have never experienced the Cherry Blossoms, will say “They’re just trees,” and technically yes … they are just trees … but when you see them in person … hundreds of them together reflecting off the water of the Tidal Basin, you can’t help but be overwhelmed. I love photographing them at their peak just after sunrise … enjoy!

Happy Easter!
This session was so much fun! Little Ms. M dressed in her Easter best and brought along her new Easter basket and some fun eggs to share with me. You don’t have to wait for a holiday or special event to have portraits taken … any day can be dress up day!
