Happy Father’s Day! (pirate adventures on the chesapeake)

It’s was a beautiful sunny day in Crofton, Maryland and a wonderful time to be outdoors to celebrate Father’s Day. I surprised my son Jake and his Dad with tickets to go on the Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake docked in Annapolis, Maryland. I’ve been on it before with Jake a couple of years ago, but I knew he would enjoy it so much more now that he’s the ripe old age of 4. There are many great opportunities to snap pictures while the children dress up and have their faces painted and during the adventure itself. Dad joined in on the fun too (he was the only one). Here are a few fun pictures from their adventure:

Snap(s) of the Week: Party Dress! (child magazine photos)

I love spring sun dresses … especially when they are worn with such treasured enjoyment! And look at these party shoes! How sweet. This photograph was taken at a child’s first birthday party out near Falls Church, VA. You’ll see the birthday boy pics soon, but this one grabbed my attention. Ms. Fashion was so sweet and I loved snapping a few impromptu photographs of her alone and with her brother.

Happy Arbor Day (Sport Fit Club: Bowie, MD)

It was a thrill to watch a group of children (my son included) celebrate Arbor Day at school by planting their own trees! The weather was perfect and the teachers really worked hard to plan a special educational event and celebration. Here are a few snaps I thought were cute …

Oh Little One … (on location newborn photography)

It’s always best to photograph newborns within the first couple weeks of life when their little bodies are still moldable! That’s not to say you can’t get great shots several months after birth … they are just different! Here are a few cute ones from a recent session (Okay - they are from March! I’m way behind in my blogging).

Snaps of the Week: Little June Bug (Part 2) (newborn photography in annapolis, MD)

Mommy and Daddy were overjoyed with the arrival of Baby K.! I was elated too, as I was able to take some of the first photographs of the little bug. I met the couple at the hospital after the birth and then a few days later for a home session. I like to photograph newborns within in a few weeks of birth when they are alert, but still tiny and less wiggly!

And here are a couple from home where I finally was able to capture a few with his eyes open …

Such a little wrinkle, isn’t he? Adorable. I’m looking forward to watching (and photographing!) him as he grows …

THANK YOU!

Snaps of the Week: Little June Bug (Part 1)

If you’re already a parent, I’m sure you can imagine the anticipation this couple is experiencing! They are expecting their first baby any day and like them, I can’t wait to meet him. The timing on these photographs was perfect … just a few weeks out and Mom’s skin is radiant and her belly nice and round. Both Mom and Dad are glowing (no dark circles under the eyes YET)! Just how many more days until we meet this little bug?

To be continued …

Snap of the Week: The Racing Tube

This feels like my life some days … the world is standing still, but I’m still racing. Those are the days when you really need to stop and force yourself to take a break. London proved to be the perfect location for my recent “break.” Not only was I able to take a few relaxed breaths, but I also was able to catch up with a friend who’s living in the city. I’m happy to say that I took this picture standing still as I watched the others race by.

Snaps of the Week: Oh Blah Di Oh Blah Da

The last few days have been absolutely perfect weather-wise in Maryland. Warm, sunny blue skies and a small breeze. I love it and am going to try and enjoy it as long as possible, as I know the summer humidity is right around the corner.

The nice days bode well for outdoor photo sessions. My most recent was of two lovely girls and their Mom and Dad at their house. Their backyard was the perfect backdrop as it was beautifully landscaped and outlined with the most amazing pink azaleas.

Ms. G was relaxed as she sang Beatles songs and her younger sister smiled with the entertainment. It was such a fun morning and I was so happy to spend it with such a nice family. Here are a couple of my favorites snaps from the session:

Snap of the Week: Relaxed Anticipation

This past weekend I had the pleasure of taking engagement photos for a wonderful couple who are getting married in July. I was shocked at how relaxed they both were knowing the big day - and the stresses that come with it - was so close.

Engagement photos can be taken at any time, but most couples schedule them 3-4 months prior to their wedding day. These portraits are wonderful keepsakes and work great for announcements to friends and family as well as in the newspaper.

Snap of the Week: Snowy Blossoms

I thought the snowy cold days of winter were behind us, but Mother Nature surprised us with a dusting this past weekend. It’s not often you’re able to photograph blossoms in 70 degree heat dripping with sunshine, and a few days later in 30 degree chills snow capped!
